The Frugal Modern Traveller

Whether you are planning a holiday in the Lake District or even to be the latest avid traveller in Australia, you will not be able to help notice how the price of travel packages has soared over the past few years especially.

To be fair to the travel companies passing along these extortionate prices - taxes, fuel and all other charges have increased significantly over the past few years and they really do not have any other option; especially if they want to remain in business.

However, you really can be a little more frugal when it comes to shopping around for the very best rates. I have kept a close eye on holiday packages and can reveal the very best way to book your holiday.

Try to refrain from booking your holiday package too far in advance. If you were booking travel arrangements separately (e.g. flights and hotels individually), my advice here would be different with the flights, but with inclusive holiday packages, the tour operators try to get as much money for their holidays in advance as they can.

Hold your nerve here and try to book your holiday within 6 weeks of departure. Do not let the tour operator scare you into thinking that your holiday will be gone if you do not book straight away. This will be especially is if you are looking to travel at quieter times of the year. If you prefer peak season holidays - do the same thing, only be open minded to the travel destination and this could save you beaucoup bucks!
