RSW History
The
RSW was founded in 1876 by artists to promote, through exhibition, the
medium of watercolour and encourage the bold, free and colourful qualities
of Scottish Painting.
The Society has enjoyed Royal
patronage since 1886 and throughout its history many renowned artists
have been members.
Through its open exhibitions
the RSW continues to actively encourage waterbased media art with a generous
range of annual awards and to promote its artists throughout Scotland
and beyond.
